Bowel Cancer (or colorectal cancer) is a tumour which starts in the large bowel (the rectum or the colon). Colorectal cancer may cause symptoms such as;
Change in the bowel habit (usually to more frequent and looser stools)
Bleeding from the bottom
Anaemia (a low blood count)
Colorectal cancer is usually diagnosed by performing a colonoscopy. If a colorectal cancer is found at colonoscopy a CT scan will be performed to stage the cancer (to see how far the colorectal cancer has spread).
